On Oct. 3, 2014, the police in Breckenridge, Colorado received not one but multiple reports of UFO sightings over the city. Several individuals and groups of people made the reports on Friday just before noon. The witnesses, among them investigative reporter Matt Renoux from KUSA, Denver, reported either a single “shiny” dot or a group of three glowing orbs forming a triangle in the sky above Breckenridge.
Renoux, reporting live on Friday, Oct. 3 from Breckenridge, stated that he did not believe the mysterious objects to be drones or weather balloons because they stayed stationary for periods of up to 15 minutes at a time. After that, a flash would appear and the “objects would take off across the mountain ridge”. Renoux also said that none of the other witnesses wanted to appear in front of the camera but talked to him about what they witnessed. Some saw the objects forming straight lines others saw them forming triangles on the horizon. The UFO sightings were the talk of the town that day and prompted an investigation into the matter by local police as well as the Summit County Sheriff’s department, which immediately notified the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Breckenridge police followed up on the reports of the sightings on Friday and are still investigating.
A report on the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) says that the strange objects were observed in the sky motionless in a triangular pattern for nearly two hours. However, the FAA, when contacted, was not aware of the UFO sighted over Breckenridge and had not received any reports about any such sightings at the time. A call to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) did not bring any answers either. Spokesperson for the agency, Army Major Beth Smith, told KUSA, “NORAD is not tracking any anomalies in that location. We are investigating.”
There were speculations that the strange acting objects might have been helium balloons or drones. However, the witnesses of the UFO sighted over Breckenridge all were sure that this was not the case. The news of a UFO sighted over Breckenridge came just one day after a similar sighting in Salt Lake City, Utah.
